Prepare fertile, well-drained soil. Sow seeds in seed starter one month early. Gently clip the seed tip to help the seed germinate. Seeds germinate fast at high temperature (80~90F). Transplant the seedlings in a sunny place in spring or summer. Keep soil moist and fertilize as needed. Train the vines onto a strong trellis. Prune to prevent over-growing and improve ventilation. To process for luffa sponges, allow gourds to hang on the vine until they are fully mature and the skin hardens/dries. Remove skin and seeds.
Culinary tips: Used in stir-frying, soup, stew.
